New gpu with old P67A-GD65 Mobo?

Nice one! Could you just confirm which bios you're using, is it the v4.3?

Bios Version E7681IMS V4.3
Build Date 01/09/2013
ME FW Version 8.1.2.1318

I am using the z68-g65 board with the 25.8 Bios from 2013. I am assuming your BIOS around the same time would be similar.

Is this a thing to be wary of buying a new graphics card? I have a six year old gigabyte ga-p55-usb3. Was planning on getting the new AMD card to shove in there, just figured if your PSU is man enough and you have a pci-e16 slot your grand?

Apologies for hijacking the thread somewhat!

So far I've only heard of issues with Nvidia cards not being recognized. But I thought like you if the PSU was OK and you had a x16 slot you were good to go.

some cards in the past have needed a BIOS update. It appears that most are working just fine on older boards though.

I am sure someone on the GT1070 thread was running a P67A.

Hoping my Gigabyte P67-UD7 will be no issue for the 1070, didn't think it would be as it meets all the correct specifications.

My P67A-UD4-B3 has no problem with 1080 SLI and it's was purchased on the B3 revision release, has had no bios upgrade.

So a single 1070 shouldn't cause your board any problems.

I can confirm that the MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X works perfectly on the P67A-GD65 motherboard with BIOS Version 4.3 (latest one from MSI website). Hope that helps a few people with older systems.

My 7950 died today and I have no onboard graphics so an upgrade is urgent now.

Anyone know from experience if the MSI GeForce GTX 1060 Armour OC might have any issue with my motherboard? MSI P67A-GD65 B3

Two posts above you I'm using the same board with as 1070. I do have the latest BIOS though, not sure if that makes a difference.

P67A GD53. I upgraded from 7950 to RX 480. I had to flash the latest Bios before it would give me a signal (I flashed to latest beta Bios from the MSI forum).

*Latest Bios & Sandybridge can impact your OC if you have one btw.

I have the P67a-GD65 B3 and recently installed a Zotac AMP Extreme 1070. Ive got a pretty old bios dated 2011 v1.12B5 (according to AIDA).

My brother has been running an RX 480 on my old P67a-GD65 B3 since the day after release with no issues, bios won't have been touched since I gave it to him 3 or so years ago.

I've taken a punt on the MSI 1060 Armor, should arrive tomorrow. Fingers crossed it will work without any hassle.

edit: Yay, the 1060 is working fine, happy days.
