New Graphics Card £300

Hi

Is the RX 6750 XT still a decent graphics card for gaming at 1440p.

As looking for one at round £300, that will do the job well.

Looking to pair it up with a Ryzen 5 7600x and 32gb DDR5.

If buying new the 6750XT is hard to beat at that price, or the 6800 for £370 if you can stretch.

Second hand opens up the market a fair bit if you're open to that route, a 6800 sold on the OCUK MM a week or so back for £300 as an example.

Open to looking at second hand cards. I will see what’s about for the 6800 and 6800xt. As the 6750xt I had eye on is new or can be had around £250-£280 second hand.

Old post now, but the RX 7700 XT has just seen a price cut, and you can buy them for just over £300.

At this price, it beats anything Nvidia can offer by a decent amount, and it also beats it’s predecessor finally - the 6700 XT.

This would probably be my baseline recommendation for serious gamers…

On paper, this GPU has more theoretical performance than the Series X or PS5 GPUs. It has a slightly higher Compute unit count than the Series X. It has 2GB more VRAM available than the Series X GPU.

There’s now AMD’s Fluid Motion Frames 2, if more performance in games is needed.

Techpowerup’s database suggests it can play most games comfortably at 4K, but that’s rather optimistic:

The cost per frame (minimum framerate) works out at around £2.89 for the 7700X, assuming a min FPS of 107 (techspot review) at 1080p, and a price of £310.

It beats the value of the RX 7900 XT assuming a min FPS of 151 and an ideal price of £600, with a cost per frame of £3.97.

I just bought the Nitro, seems like a sensible price. Could have paid a bit more for a 7800 but I really only intend for the card to be a stop gap of sorts. That said, it’s easily more than enough power for what I need.

Up until recently I had a 4090 FE and a 7900 XTX Nitro in two different machines but I barely game. Sold them both while they still have some solid value.

This 7700 should suffice in to next summer until we see what happens with next gen. Great thing about buying a card at this price point is you aren’t going to lose a whole chunk when you go to sell it either. Plus it looks good in the case being such a chunky card :D

Indeed, an excellent stop gap card (if priced at around £300), while we wait to see what’s announced by Q1 2025.

I’m thinking that Intel will probably release something good, at this price point.

The Arc A770 was easily beaten by the 7700 XT and 6700 XT, but they’ll surely come up with an improvement.

EDIT - It looks as though Intel’s new cards may not arrive until H1 2025.

Saw a nice Sapphire model for £291 earlier, damn good for the money.
Smashing price for the card, I bought that one at that price - I think they mistakingly put it too low tbh, far lower than any other available and now gone. Might have been bad value when released but 300 or below makes it very good value so i'm glad of all the bad reviews and nay-sayers, got me a great deal off of it :D Installed, never had a 3-fan before, or a triple slot! What a chonker, but is a brilliant card. Love a nitro+

Glad I jumped on that! Way too expensive normally. Might even be able to sell this next year for like £250 and not lose a massive amount of cash.
