Made a post in general HERE and got advised to ask in here about 3d gaming.

Basically, will this Arkham with a 570 need another 570 if I'm looking at 3d gaming? Bearing in mind that demands will no doubt also get a lot higher soon.

Should I maybe look at another system, would i7 2600 be better with a view for 3d gaming?
 
Is 3d gaming worth it would you say? How good is BF 3 in 3d?

Can someone confirm exactly what I'll need because looking to purchase a system tomorrow.

I'm thinking of maybe getting the Arhkam with an extra 570, or maybe just get a system with a 580?
 
I wouldn't bother with the 2600k unless you need the hyperthreading or do lots of super intensive cpu work; a 2500k will more than suffice.

Also, make sure you get a good quality branded psu, a 750w wouldn't be what I would settle on for a high end SLI 3d system.

Take a look at this and if you still think that the 580 is worth it then fair enough, it's your call.

If your criteria for gaming is what I would describe as extreme, e.g. can't bear the thought of much below 60fps and want 8 x AA, then the 580 is probably for you. Two 570's however are cheaper, stupidly fast and will play games maxed out with moderate levels of AA for a long while. Ok, 3d will make a dent on the frame rate to some extent, but for the sake of a few games, is it really worth it? Whatever you decide, do make sure you have a very good psu. :)

Hopefully one or two others with 3d gaming experience will drop by to add their two penneth. :)
 
I'm not so much an extreme gamer, just more wanting longetivity out of the setup.

The PSU in the above system I'm looking at is the OCZ ZS 750w, do you think that is adequate?

It's definately not good enough for SLI'd GTX 580's and I'd also pick something better for SLI'd GTX 570's.

Only 648W on the 12V rail so it's not a particularly strong 750W PSU.
 
If I did get another 580, it wouldn't be for a while. Would that PSU just not cope at all? What sort of PSU would you suggest?
 
Would the OCZ ZX Series 850W PSU get away with it too would you say?

I notice OC sell some systems with lower PSU's than that and provide the option to SLI, surely they wouldn't sell unstable systems?

I've found a section on the site where you can spec your own systems and get them to set it up for you. The only options for the PSU are:

OCZ ZS Series 750W PSU -
OCZ ZX Series 850W PSU
OCZ ZX Series 1000W PSU - [add £69.17]
OCZ ZX Series 1250W Modular PSU - [add £85.84]
 
The ZS Series 750W will come nowhere near running SLI'd GTX 580's.

On their own the others cost:

OCZ ZX Series 850W PSU £124.99
OCZ ZX Series 1000W PSU £149.99
OCZ ZX Series 1250W PSU £169.99

The Corsair TX 850W (£104.99) is as cheap as you'll get at OcUK which will likely do the job as long as you don't go mad with overclocking.

You'd be far more comfortable with a good 1000W PSU.
