New graphics card needed

Me daughter is complaining that she can't play games very well, so I'm looking at getting her one. She wants to play
Left for Dead 2
Sims 2
Alien v predator (new one)
Bad company 2
Theres a few other old ones but they're the main ones she wants play. System she has is:

PII 720 BE at 2.8ghz, asus M4A785TD-M EVO, 2 x 2gb patiort DDR3, XP pro (gonna be upgraded to Win 7 soon), 19" screen 1280 x 1024 res

Budget around the £70 mark ish.

I agree. In the £70 price range...nothing can beat a 2nd hand HD4870 1GB in performance.

Also, do you think you would be able to get round to overclocking the CPU for her? Cause faster CPU would benefit games like Bad Company 2. Or even try to see if you can unlock the 4th core.

Yup, and even at 1280x1024 a 512mb is more than sufficient...and perhaps more desireable as they clock a hell of a lot better than the 1GB versions which barely give 2-5% overclocks.

To be honest, if the budget can be stretched to £89 to get a HD5750 512MB, then she would be able to game in dx 11 mode and should be smooth enough for 1280x1024 res.
