Hi all,

at the moment i have 2x560 sli running at res 5760 x 1080 (3 x 24" Monitors)

i do play games at this res like BF3 , Need for speed, Cod, guildwars 2 etc

am finding frame rates are low

so to cut to the chase i need an upgrade i have £600 (No more) to spend my motherboard is Msi P67A-GD53 the spec says both crossfire and sli so dont mind

so whats the best i can get
thinking Nvidia 670 or Ati 7970

I am going to recommend 2 * 670's purely from the painless set up I have had whilst setting up my 3 screens (5760*1080 also) with the 680's. The 670 is ~5/10% slower than a 680.

As you are coming from SLI, you are used to how the drivers work also :)

YOUR BASKET
2 x KFA2 GeForce GTX 670 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £299.99 (£599.98)
Total : £611.38 (includes shipping : £9.50).

Would you be partial to saving some cash? Or do you want the best you can get for £600?

yes am sure that my corsair 950 would handle them,

but acording to the review am seeing ie on BF3 the 670 performs better than the 7970

also am i better going or the highest core mhz and shader speed i can find?

That review was 10th May 2012, AMD drivers since then have levelled performance at stock in BF3. You will see more gains from overclocking the 7950/70 then you would likely see from the 670 due to the Nvidia card having locked voltage.

Hi Guys,

the card i was looking at isnt avalible any more now, so am looking at a
EVGA 670 Superoverclock but was wondering as am running 3 screens and play skyrim with hd mod am reading that i would be better to go for a 2 x 4gb cards.
does it work like this

2 x 2gb sli cards makes 4gb video memory and 2 x 4gb sli cards make it 8gb video memory.

No 2 * 2GB only = 2GB VRAM.

If you play Skyrim THAT much then go for 4GB cards. But weigh up the cost of the extra 2GB and consider if Skyrim is worth THAT much money.

still pondering this

3 monitors (5760 x 1080)

better with
2 x (sli) EVGA GTX 670 FTW - 4GB = £740

or

1 x GTX690-4GD5 - 4GB Asus GTX 690

acording to this website it performs better
http://hexus.net/tech/reviews/graphics/39917-asus-geforce-gtx-670-directcu-ii-top-2gb/?page=3

Mate: a 690 is not 4GB of VRAM. It's 2GB effective as in 2*2GB or 2GB per GPU.

If you want more than 2GB of VRAM than get 2*4GB 670's or 2*4GB 680's.

Also a 690 is still SLI as it's 2 GPU's. It's just 2 GPU's on a single card as opposed to two single GPU cards joined via an SLI bridge.
