New graphics card needed.

My older machine does have a graphics card already in but it’s old now.

My older system is

Intel i5-4460 Quadcore.
12GB Ram

EVGA 600W B PSU
MSI GTX 970 4GB

Is there a way to find out how much ram my board will take
Without knowing exaclty what model you have, looking on line seems to suggest you will have one 16GB stick of RAM and should be able to upgrade to 32GB.

Either add another stick of the same/similar or get a matching pair, that is up to you.

You have been given similar advise on your previous graphics card thread. Also previously asked to confirm cables and pictures of system to help with upgrades.

Looking at you website (looks great and with great quality photos) considering your Equipment reviews of camera and lens worth over 3k > i would say its probably time to invest in your business and research and build a medium to high quality Editing rig without.

I would suggest posting a thread on https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/community/new-to-pc-gaming-upgrade-advice.172/ state the purpose of the new build , apps being used, how long you would realistically want it to last without needing upgrades.

Having a good reliable and fast editing rig will reduce your editing time meaning you can focus more on taking the pictures and marketing/selling so would be a worthy investment

As posted before my current pic wasn’t handling photoshop very well

I also wanted to edit on the go so have gone for a Laptop.

HP Victus
  • Intel Core i5 - 12450H processor.
  • Octa core processor.
  • with a burst speed of 4.4GHz.
  • 16GB RAM DDR4.
  • 512GB SSD storage.
  • NVIDIA RTX 30 Series RTX 3050 graphics card with 4GB RAM GDDR6.

How about a gt1030? They’re not mega powerful, but if it’s only photoshop you want to use it for I can’t see why that would be an issue for this card. They only draw around 30-40 watts and can be had really cheap second hand.

but if it’s only photoshop you want to use it for I can’t see why that would be an issue for this card
It wasn't an issue once, but the updated versions use the GPU a lot more and unfortunately there's a dearth of meaningful benchmarks so it is hard to know what GPU is needed/to recommend.
