New GTX 465, or GTX 295? or ATI equivalent...

Hey guys,

Let's say I have £200 for a new GPU. My best team green options are GTX 465 OR GTX 295 (around £200)

OR

Team red: ATI Equivalent.

What do you reckon guys?
Let's start a war.

GTX460 isnt that much slower than a GTX465.

a GTX470 is significantly faster than both, but is £220.

some reference design GTX465 can unlock into a GTX470 making a performance bargain.

Is this an upgrade from the 4870X2 in your sig?

If so, I suggest keeping what you have and waiting to see what happens when the new AMD HD 6000 series arrives in november. To get a current generation single-GPU card that performs as well as the 4870X2 in games you will need to be looking at the Nvidia GTX 470 or AMD HD 5850. However, these cards have the benefit of DX11 and do not require games to play nice with crossfire.

Hey there, this is a replacement yes but I think my 4870x2 might be on the blink which is why I want to replace it. I won't replace it unless I know it is dying, and I don't know for sure yet.

If it pulls through and lives after a full format and hard reset of PC and install 10.5a catalyst drivers, the card is going nowhere, it will do me for at least another year.
