New Guy at OcUK... no really, I got employed

Sadly there is some copy and pasting involved, especially if its just a different colour! :D

I'm not having a go, just genuinely confused on why copying and pasting is involved is it to fulfill a quoter or is it to eliminate human error? Because surely you should write them all yourself to rule out copyright and also idiots on the other end? :)

Welcome, Jon, the content guy!

I've bugged 5ub about this one, but, if you felt like adding in graphics card sizes onto their pages, and GPU/CPU cooler size support onto the cases 'full description' it would be fantastic!

It's really annoying looking at cases and such, and then having to go onto manufacturers website to check sizes for whether everything will fit or not!

Anyway. Just an idea, welcome aboard :D

A lot of case suppliers descriptions have them, if they have the GPU/CPU size limitations they're usually added, although if this is something that your wanting to have consistently on Cases showing the clearance, I can try get this information from suppliers and put it at the bottom from now on. (on any future cases I setup)

If I do get time I'll go back through the current catalog of cases and put this information on. showing the GPU and CPU Clearance.

Because why rewrite what the manufacturer has already done for you?
To write every description from scratch would take large amounts of time compared to a quick copy and paste and then a proof read just to make sure it's not utter garbage.
I don't imagine copywrite would be an issue as the manufacturers would expect their blurb to be copied and used elsewhere for their products.

most manufacturers are great and there is no problems copying their stuff and adding a bit of our own.

other manufacturers use a lot of Engrish and it needs to be totally overhauled.

for special stuff, Jon does his own descriptions

Your right in a sense Tom e although manufacturers marketing jargon can in some cases be misleading and potentially make a customer look the other way as the product being described Isn't marketed as it should be for the target audience. As rightly so there is another guy on the other end doing the job I do.

My Job is essentially to ensure that content is structured consistently throughout the site so going into a section of products, you instinctively know what to look at to compare products and features. Suppliers these days have walls of text about a product which when clicking to purchase a customer can feel overwhelmed.

I try to pick out the most relevant parts which make the product unique and allow the customer to see the benefit of this product over another in the same price range etc, as all products have pros and cons.

This probably gives you a bit more of an insight, than the "copy and paste guy"

It would be useful. One of the more popular questions that seem to pop up is certainly, 'will this fit', normally it just takes someone to look it up on manufacturer's website (as most include it), but OcUK doesn't list it (hence I don't see it as being a major chore to add in most of the time from now on :))
