Managed to get a friend to sign up with me today at Cannons gym (incase anyone has heard of it). It is a 'fitness' gym with a pool etc but it's still fairly decent.

With all that carp aside, i'm looking for a little advice on a new routine. It's mostly machine based (it has a smith machine haha) with not much free weights. I might of spotted a squat rack but I can't quite remember.

So if anyone could give me a run down for a five day routine, that would be pretty awesome and much appretiated. Cardio on Tuesday and Thursday is covered, running/swimming.

(Yeah this is for gaining muscle)

Thanks <3

Already checked it a long time ago, it's a really good guide. Looking for a slightly different routine though.

Can I also say, you just joined a Gym, so you went down registered and filled out all the forms.

Then you came home to ask people on the overclockers forum what to use for what muscles.

At no point did stop to think "hang on the people in the Gym might know?" and possibly be better to ask?

might be worth you going down to the gym and talking to someone there, they know what equipment they have (rather than not knowing whats in a gym that you join for building muscle).

once you know what you have to work with, people can suggest some exercises :]

Just because they work there does not make them better to ask at all.

A good percent of personal trainers preach stuff they know nothing about and many know nothing about bodybuilding, nutrition and form.

You can't go wrong by reading GordyR's thread.

Just playing devil's advocote here but a lot of body builders do the same... ;)

There is one fundamental factor in all this you haven't even covered and that is your goals. What are you exercising for? Tell us where you want to be and what you want from exercising because without knowing this the train/diet/rest planning is fruitless.
