I bought a new external hdd recently for some extra space (and because I got a good deal on it). Seeing as don't use the fdd in my shuttle anymore I thought I would mount it internally, however I did put some files on the new ide hard drive while it was still external. My main drive with windows on it is a sata drive, but when i connect the ide drive it takes the ide 0 primary master channel and the sata end up on channel 2 so i get the NTLDR error. I've had a look for fixes but would like some advice on the easiest way to fix this problem.
I tried setting the sata drive to primary master in the sata bios settings but then the ide hard drive wasn't detected.

Any ideas?

set the jumper on the hard drive to slave instead of master, might fix it..

there must be some sort of bios option for it though, like to select which hard drive is main boot option

usually they are like this..

HDD0
HDD1
HDD2
HDD3

been so long since i configured a shuttle though, so i don't know, hope this helps a bit!

The hard drive didn't come with a jumper so I can't set master/slave

I tried setting the sata hdd as primary master in the sata options but then the new ide hdd wasn't recognised.

hmm, you might need to get a jumper for it

i would post you one, but they're all at my other address right now, i'm sure someone on here will help you out

Yeah it's irritating, otherwise I would have set it as slave. There is a fix where you can alter the boot.ini file (or something similar) so it points to the right drive.

Also does it matter that the hdd already has data on it?
