Need a few expert opinions here.
Just got a new Sata 3.0 drive today and hooked it up to my sata 2.0 (I think) motherboard. Anyway problem is it's not being recognised in the bios at all. Upon booting the loading screen lasts for a couple of minutes before the BIOS finally loads and no SATA drives being detected in any of the sata ports. My old drive however is still recognised as is the DVD drive. The drive can be heard "clicking" every second or so for 20 - 30 seconds at power up.
It's a Dell studio XPS just for reference.
So my question is any chance this is a sata controller problem (also, there's no jumper) or have I been sent a hard drive that's dead?
N.B Hard drive not bought from OCUK.
Thanks
