Hi,

I recently bought a "Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 10 NCQ 300GB 6V300F0 SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (HD-089-MD)". I cant seem to install it, my computer detects it in BIOS and in Windows. When I go into Disk Manager and try to install it, it loads for around 10 seconds then an unexpected error occurs and next to the drive it says "unreadable".
I currently am using a 120GB SATA drive as my Master and an 80gb WD IDE for my slave and am trying to install this new drive as another slave.
Also my motherboard is a "DFI Lanparty UT NF3 250gb"

Does anyone know what is going on and how I could fix it?

Thanks

Well when i went into it a wizard popped up, the first option was to install/activate it, then after clicking "next" there was a convert option but I didnt tick that. After that it loaded for a while and then the error appeared. I then tried to right click it to see if i could activate it that way but there was no option to do so.

I've even tried looking for drivers on Maxtors website but it doesnt seem to be listed on their product drop down menu.

I've had the same problem and want to get in contact with you so we can make our case to OcUK about the possibility of a faulty batch that for whatever reason doesn't work with our motherboards or something.
Could you please email me so I can know your email address or add me on msn please, assuming you want to aswell. I can't talk about it here because it's against forum policy.

P.S I have the same mobo and HDD as you

Hiya,
Sounds to me like a manifestation of the Nforce/ Maxtor bug. Go into the SATA controller properties & in the primary/ secondary channel bits uncheck command queueing & see if that helps.

Cheers

How would I do that? I looked in the BIOS but couldn't find anything. I also looked at the options in the nforce SATA controller listed in Device Manager, but couldn't find anything.
