hey guys,

I have 6.55gb left on my 115gb IDE hard drive - i need a new one and i need it to be fast but cheap

my mobo supports sata2
i use my pc for games and recording gamesplay with fraps, MP3's, pics and that sorta stuff but mainly games. it will have to be under £130 as im gonna have to call the good old bank of mum'n'dad for this one (partly). preferably to be as big and as fast as my budget would alow.

thatnx - and i really appreciate it

thanx man , looks like thats the one that im gonna go for

any ideas on how to do a copy of the HDD i have now to the new one with out doing a total reinstall ?

Norton Ghost would do it, depending on your motherboard you may have to install the SATA drivers for your motherboard first before copying across but if it is a reasonably new motherboard you should be fine even without that. :)

Anachros TrueImage should also do it although I know less about it.

cool , i have ghost although last time i tryed to use it , it didnt work just crashes half way through

but i can try it again

so how would it get 110gb of data n to a dvd ?

That depends on the speed of your DVD drive but for a 4x disks it is about 15 minutes per 4gb so not all that quick but you can get much faster writers and disks now, mine are just old disks from the time when to get anything more than 4x cost double or triple the price.

//edit do you mean how long would it take or actually how would you go about getting 115gb onto DVD? If it is the second it isn't possible to put onto one disk, no compression format is efficient enough to go from 115gb to 4.5gb. :)
