New hard drive space

If you pay for a 160gig HDD, do you expect to get 160gig? I got a new one and it only seems to have 149gig.

Should i take it back?

Thats right mate, when you format you've only got 149 gig formatted capacity. I forget how it works but someone will come along and explain in a minute.

mostly because the division is 1024, but people just round it down and speak in 1000's.
It's absolutely correct what the disk shows
