new hard drive....

Hi...

Been a while since I last posted here.

It's about time since I got myself an extra hard drive and was wondering what you reccommend?

I was considering these:

Hitachi Deskstar T7K500 NCQ 320GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (0A33435) £62.26

or

Western Digital Caviar SE16 500GB 5000AAKS SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM £89.29

I already have a 250gb Hitachi Deskstar and I'm quite happy with that so I was considering the 320gb version. Or the larger 500gb WD drive?

I'm mainly concerned with the quality, preformance and noise levels of the drives.

Any other suggestions would be helpful as well.

Any help would be great.

The T7K500s are quite quick but the Seagate 7200.10s and the new WD drive that OCUK have on special at the moment are probably a bit quicker. The WD is an absolute steal at the moment too.

If you want silence then the Samsung range are as quiet as they come but not as quick.

If you want one that'll die in 6 months buy a Maxtor
