Alright lads.

At the moment I have one Seagate Barracude 160GB Hardrive. Due to insufficient space I'm looking to buy a second harddrive. Was just wondering how easy it is to do this and if anyone can spec me a good harddrive with around 500GB capacity?

Looked at my mobo and it says it has 4 x SATAII 3.0 Gb/s, support RAID (RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 0+1, RAID 5, JBOD), NCQ, AHCI and "Hot Plug" functions.

At the moment I have one SATA port being taken up by the harddrive and another being took up by my Sony Optiarc DVD-ROM.

Chears.

1 x SATA data, 1 x power. When you get into windows it will need to be formatted: Start > Run > diskmgmt.msc you will see the new drive there, right click on it to format it and/or set up partitions on it.

Dead easy.

Western Digital tend to perform better in the reviews I remember reading. However differences aren't apparent in the real world. In addition people have their own opinions on reliability, but none of us are in a real position to judge it. Storage Review made a bold attempt to judge reliability on drives based on user submission, but the results from it are sadly almost useless. It's pretty much pot luck with drives, ignore anyone that says one brand is more reliable than another unless they can qualify it with 4 or 5 digit number of units from each manufacturer for the particular models in question.

Finally some drives have a 3 year, and some have a 5 year warranty. The 5 year is clearly better than the 3 year, however consider if you'll still have a use for it in 3.5 years time.

Chears lads. Think I'm gonna go with the Western Digital one. Just need to check my PSU has enough power leads for sata devices!! :P

Edit. And by the looks of it it only has two SATA power cables from the PSU and their both being used! What do I need to do now? ;p

Edit Again. :P I take it I need a Akasa Serial ATA PSU Converter aswell?
