Hello,

I'm looking at a replacement motherboard, power supply and case.

I currently have a gtx 250, and phenom and 12gb of ram.

I need to make it as small as viable for the price, I am also interested īn changing the gpy and if its cheap enough the CPU

I probes have around 500 to spend I can go over this if needed. Any suggestions, off if the CPU is still fine for nowadays gaming I'll leave it, I know the gpu is old.

How much is an improvement for the CPU or should I bet an i7 and Mb?

Sorry just re added the mother board as I got it wrong, I'm leaning towards the AMD as according to Tom's Hardware it's still 3rd tier and I can put more money towards the gfx card, the smaller 2.5 hdds are so I can remove the drive bays

It's a bit strange but my case switch died. When I changed it, the PSU was dead. I fairly certain the MB is dead as well. Bit of a disaster really. I'm down sizing to another place soon so it's a good time to move down from a full atx

Just looking online there is a real shortage of decent boards for the AM3 or AM3 M-ATX'
be a shame to have to get rid of the phenom when its still a great bit of kit. The other problem is my H20 cooling system, I no longer have the mounts for intel CPU'S so it looks like the kit will def have to be AMD . The case i'm looking at also takes ITX

so maybe go for something like these

Antec Kúhler H2O 620 Series 4 CPU Watercooler is the cooler i have

I'm using the ssd i have atm (Vertex 3), and the wd black for games, I haven't heard amazing things about hybrids would you recommend them?

The PSU would blow out warm air to the bottom may make the bottom fan as a intake difficult
