New HDD Advice

Hi I'm thinking of spending a couple of pound on my gaming machine I'm fed up of listening to my old raptor making noise in the background.
Would the best option be to get a new 300gb raptor for the operating system & games I want my machine to be as quick as it can be.

I don't think an SSD is the right choice for me because £ pr GB just seems very high what would be the quickest conventional HDD.

Western Digital Blacks are pretty good for performance if you want a more reasonable cost : space ratio.
