I recently upgraded from a 120gig hdd to a 1tb hdd, instead of cloneing i wanted to start fresh so installed windows 7 64bit on the new 1tb hdd, installed all drivers/games/software etc and all was good, but now i want to remove the older 120gig and just have the 1tb in but when i discconect the smaller hd windows wont boot, but will do if they are both in. i assume the system files are on the smaller one and windows files are on the bigger one. ive gone into disk management and made them both active but can see the 120gig has the system files on. Ive tried swap the sata cable around on them both but it comes up with an error about system32\winload.exe

How do i make it so i can remove the 120gig hd and still be able boot into the windows that is on the 1tb hdd?

unplug the 120gb hd and leave new drive in then boot from the windows dvd disc and do a startup repair

might need to do it a few times to fix the boot

it pays to unplug all other drives apart from the drive you want to install windows on,it saves this happening then
