Bloody brilliant idea!!

Cops will have fantastic evidence and i reckon it'll save a hell of a lot of time in repot writing in the future. What's the point in writing a statement about exactly what you did, saw, heard when you can just show jury's, judges, supervising officers etc.

I'm a big fan, plus it should kerb a great deal of plod bashing because you can't alledge misconduct if there is video evidence nothing happened.

Gets my vote.

Hmmm ... "anti-tamper" casing with a USB2 socket for transfer. "codec4" video and sound.

Can't find anything on "codec4", unless they actually mean divx codec 4.x - this would explain the 400 hours of recording space.

An interesting USA perspective ... http://www.bafo.org.uk/digital.htm
Can't find anything from UK perspective.

I guess in most cases the video and sound will be used in the context of "... illustrative of a witness' testimony ..." so questions over authenticity are much reduced.

Though this is not the case with speed camera's ... they are a "... silent witness ..." and the image taken by the camera supposedly "... speaks for itself ..." - so I can see that the authenticity is more likely to be questioned.

Anyone know if such questions have been raised during any actual hearings into speed offences yet ?

I think the DivX logo on the bottom right of the videos on that site gives it away. ;)

I'd love to know if they have permission to use that Splinter Cell footage at the top right :p

But an interesting idea, might make people watch what they say/do a bit more when they're arrested.
