JVC are ok for lower end systems, but if the oppertunity presents itself to buy Alpine or Pioneer for your money, I would always go for those brands first.

Sony are ok, just unreliable unfortunately.

Thanks for a detailed reply.
By the way, i will be connecting my amp to the headunit but i never had a problem with my Sony headunit and that didnt have an option to disable the internal amp.
My amp will only be powering my sub.

Also, do the JVC headunits use ISO connetion in the back or do they use their own adaptor like Alpine do? If they do require an extra adaptor is it included in the box?

Thanks

JVC use standard ISO connectors. If you are only using an amp for a sub disabling the internal amps won't be an issue. I was using two amps to power the fronts and rears (never found the need for a sub) so it was a useful feature for me.

What £50 more?

No a couple of quid. So the HU I was looking at which is a pound cheaper on CAS would cost me more than buying it at CAD.

As we've said, I wasn't just referrign to the one HU you werte talking about, in general the same thing will cost a different amount at different places, you just have to find the best, which isn't always the same place!

I like both CAD and CAS, the two places I always check for stuff, whoever has what I want the cheapest at the time gets my business :) Although looking on CAD now they seem to have stopped loads of their decent discounts which is rubbish.

Although the unit you are on about is £50 over the budget anyway..

Morba mate, CAD suck *** they are always more expensive that somewhere else

CAD rock. They are the OCUK of the car audio world. Great community and great products. They even have a feature that allows forum users to send messages to the shop to get speedy responces.

Just like OCUK they are slighly more expensive than other places with certain goods but their support is ace. I've tried returning things to caraudiosecurity and had a nightmare of a time.

I'd rather pay the extra few percent for peace of mind!

Saying that though i just looked on CAS and found my headunit and ipod adapter HERE for only £10 cheaper but bearing in mind i got £20 off mine so it worked out cheaper from halfords but for the sake of a £10 note
I know its more than you want to pay but just showing the difference sometimes aint that great

Halfords can do some decent dealswhen they want, last year you could pick up a Pioneer 77mp for 199.99! Pity they don't do that now as I could really use another!

I've got a spare 77MP faceplate sat here as well :(

Sell it on a well known auction site, after my HU got stolen I sold the faceplate on there, got £45 for an older model Pioneer faceplate. That was almost 2 years after it was stolen too.

Probably the bloke who pinched your HU bidding on it :D

Probably :p

Believe it or not, they stole the faceplate from Halfords as I was in there the next day and they had just had one stolen, they managed to get it out of the perspex viewing box.

if its that good you would have thought they would have made it more attractive :/

They did :P Much better than the flashy dashy whizzy looking arcade machine HUs out there.

In the end i went for the JVC KD-LH811
Bought it from Halfords, was the cheapest price around.
Some online places sold it for around £145-150 but once you add on P+P it goes over my budget.
