Hi Everyone,

Could you help me?

I am looking for a home cinema system for a new home my wife and I have moved in to. I am looking for a 46 inch or above sized LED TV which has the best picture quality and input/output connections (HDMI etc).

I am debating whether or not to go for 3D as at the parents, we have had a 3D TV and hardly ever used it (apart from the Alice in Wonderland 3D Bluray). I am definitely not after any of the Smart Tv features as I will be connecting a HTPC up.

I am also after a decent bluray + 5.1 speaker system to hook up. At the parents, we have the Bose system (with the control unit and subwoofer), but I want something much less expensive than that, yet decent sounding, and will accept inputs from Bluray, and HTPC).

If it helps we will be using it to watch Sky in both SD and HD, using it for watching movies from HTPC to screen, and playing PC games. The living room which the system will be sited is quite big.

I have been looking at online stores, and going to one of them tomorrow to see. But what are your suggestions? I have taken a look at LG and Samsung.

My budget is MAX £2000. Even £1500 will be better.

Many thanks.

For your budget:

ONKYO HTS4505 5.1 Package
PANASONIC DMPBDT120 Blu-ray
SAMSUNG UE46ES6300 TV
PEERLESS SPK510 Speaker stands x 2 pairs
QED Original Speaker Cable x 10m

Total if you shop around c. £1000 all in.

My turn :D

YAMAHA RXV373 & Tannoy SFX5.1 = 350
SONY BRAVIA KDL46HX853 & BDPS490 (Multi Region DVD) blu-ray player & the bond set & spiderman blu-rays = 1150

All from RS, job done.

Thank you very much for the replies. Sorry for the delayed response.

I am tending towards:

1) Samsung 46 inch ES6710 series - price and reviews are good
2) Onkyo HTS4505 5.1 Package - what difference between the 6505 package and this one?

What do you guys think? Thanks. :)

2) Onkyo HTS4505 5.1 Package - what difference between the 6505 package and this one?

The receivers differ.

The more expensive one has:

30W per channel more power (if that is important to you)
2 more HDMI inputs
Network port (possibility of controlling the receiver via android tablet or ipad/phone)

Once again thank you for your advice guys.

I have purchased the Samsung ES6900 50 inch TV; the Onkyo HTS4505 (special offer from RS); and the Sony BDPS490 (same price as special deal, but not from RS because it is an instore promotion, so no special Bond or Spiderman movies). I decided against going 6505 as I will be building a HTPC soon so no need for "extra" features.

Though thinking about it, I would have preferred going with a passive 3D TV (like LG), but there was no price/screen size sweet spot... Ah well. I get prone to nausea. :(

All should be coming next week (the Bluray player on Friday this week). Looking very forward. :)

Once again, thank you.
