I’ve had delays with installations in the past so in an attempt to avoid any issues, I booked broadband setup 2 months in advance. There’s already a fibre line here.

Its now move in day, no router to be seen. I phoned Plusnet and theyve advised of an error creating the account on their side, that they would credit me some money but that now i would need to wait until the end of the month to get the internet setup.

This is not good, ive just had an outbreak of covid at the office so everyone is back to remote working.

My question is, are there any providers or means of me getting a super quick, almost emergency installation of broadband?

These companies baffle me, send me a box with a router next day delivery and flick a switch at an exchange, surely its that simple?

Just get a 4G unlimited data sim. That's what I did when I moved house whilst working from home.

Also, for future reference, most ISPs will allow you to have a different delivery address for the router to the service installation address so you can have it posted to your current address and don't have to wait until moving day to find out it hasn't arrived.

I had new fibre installed and an active line with BT within 48 hours of ordering last month, including running new fibre from the road across another property into my flat in a very rural area. Mind bogglingly quick. The Openreach engineer loaned me a router until the BT one arrived, but obviously if you already have an old router you could use that.

30GB for £12 on the Three network.

Once tethered, go into your phone's system settings > connections > data usage, to keep tabs on how much data you're using, especially if you're using MS Teams at work.

I just teatherd to my phone working over vpn to citrix it was fine with 4meg, result obviously depend on your speeds / reliability and work though

EE screwed up in a similar way when we moved into this place. Had arranged for installation and had a date scheduled in. Got to the day of installation and no router, so phoned them up to ask whether the engineer would bring the router, to then be told that someone had cancelled my order.
