New house wiring - Broadband and CCTV

Aha, sorry I wasn't thinking straight, Yes a mouse and keyboard to control the NVR from my TV would be needed in addition to viewing the camera images on TV.

I doubt the wireless signal of a standard mouse will travel to the loft from the ground floor where the TV will be placed, hence was thinking if i could run a cable of some sort from the loft to the ground floor to cater for that.

I don't know where I read you could use a Cat6 to control the mouse and keyboard but unsure how that concept would even work?

You mean a KVM over Ethernet system? You’re significantly cheaper with the viewing box.

Do you need to watch the cameras on the TV? You know that you can just view them on your phone or tablet using the manufacturer’s app?

Ah ok
Don't need to watch the cameras on the TV I was advised the max you can view on a phone or tablet was 6 cameras?
if I did not control them via the TV i presume any maintenance when needed I would need to hook up a monitor into the NVR?

No, I watch 16 cameras on mine (iPad with Dahua DMSS). They’re just quite small until you select them individually.

By far the best way to configure the NVR from pretty much all manufacturers is in a web browser using a laptop, PC or even a tablet.

Hmmm, maybe its a hikvision thing...
I obv. started this off with advice on which CCTV to go for, now I know I need a NVR and 8 PoE cameras, with night vision, color, still searching what to get for the right price.... as most places for hikvision and Dahua all provide to resellers only and not to the public
