New Humble Indie Bundle

Embarrassingly enough, I couldn't even beat the demo when I tried a few months ago. I got stuck on the double bonds puzzles. Now that I have the full game I thought I'd go back and give it a go.

I deleted my saves and started again, paid close attention to the tutorial, and beat the double bonds puzzles in a matter of minutes. :) Then I went on to beat the next few very quickly and I'm now onto multi-reactor puzzles at last!

It turns out I was trying much too complex solutions for the double bonds puzzle. I kept it simple and ended up using far fewer cycles and symbols than the average player according to the leaderboards.

Now I can get on with enjoying the game! \o/

It gets very very hard later on, think I was on about the 7th or 8th planet when I called it quits. At that point you have teleporters, if/else selectors, flip-flop gates and can use fusion to combine elements

Oh, i was musing about how Linux users are often called cheapskates who want everything for nothing, and you get what you pay for yada yada. If anything this shows that the opposite is the case, that they are willing to pay more. Just to those who deserve it, those that are kind of heart and that actually make good software.

Ah got it and I agree.

Back on topic, enjoy the games ;)

Yes but id say that Notch is running Linux and that would put up the average a lot.

Is he? I thought from his livestreams that he was in Windows 7? Either way i don't think it makes the point less valid.

Anyway, what to download first... Trine looks like a good shout. I just wish Desura for Linux was at least an open beta, Steam in Wine has been horrible of late - just about enough for playing games through but if you keep the client open for more than a few seconds it runs out of memory and crashes. Must be a leak somewhere, not that it was ever fast enough to be pleasantly usable anyway :(

Or maybe it is due to the fact that games are extremely rare on Linux compared to Windows, and Windows users have so many more games that they are willing to pay less because they are already buying many more others.

I'd also say there were less linux users so the average can be easily shifted by a few users paying $10.

I own most of the games but still.. might as well get it :)

SpaceChem is really good, although it's eating way too much of my time!! Have to try out some of the other games.

The bundle is well worth it.

Alright, on SpaceChem...

Can anyone tell me how to get rid of the instruction box in the red circle? I'm pretty sure i need to output into that box but i can't since the 'helpful instructions' are there. And what is the white glowing thing in the green circle? Cheers :)

The white glowy thing is the game showing you where to put the blue input. Once you put it on that square, the instructions should disappear (or be replaced with another instruction).

Frozen Synapse is good in theory but the multiplayer scoring system is shocking.

If someone leaves mid-match because they are losing they dont get any penalty. The game is then "hung" for two weeks and if they dont make another move you are awarded a win. TWO WEEKS?!

I am showing as a score of 1-7 so one win so far and I have 8 games in this "hung" state because people just go offline or leave halfway through when they start to lose. How ridiculous that you have to wait 2 weeks before you are awarded a win and whats to say if in 1 week and 6 days they dont just make a move and then you have to wait ANOTHER 2 weeks on top of that before they may get hit with another loss so they just do the same again and it goes on an on.

In my view, if you leave a match half way through it should be a loss straight away. It basically means if you are losing, quit and go to another game and you will look awesome with loads of wins under your belt as you will have zero losses. It's really frustrating having 80% of the games I play being people who quit when you get close to winning.

We should hold an OCUK match or something as playing against randomers is just pathetic the way it works at the moment.
