New i3 build won't post/boot

Hi,

My setup

Intel DH55TC motherboard
i3 cpu
2GB Hynix DDR3 PC3-10666 (1333) (HMT125U6AFP8C-H9)
Seagate 500gb hard drive

Connected everything up hit the power button and fans come on,but no picture at all(connecting via the hdmi port).A few seconds later the fans speed up and then it cuts out and powers up again.It will do the same again a couple of times and then it will stay on but no picture

Also i cannot hear any beeps from the motherboard! The motherboard does have an internal mono speaker,but i don't think my case has a lead to fit into it...

Anyone got any ideas please!

Ok, If power up and powers down again, Sounds like there is a issue with the CPU, Check the Processor is seated in the socket and heatink is also seated correctly. If that fails remove from case and try outside the case. Also remove one stick of ram to see if it post.

Is the 4 or 8 pin for cpu power installed.
Try a CMOS reset.

Ok removed the cpu and heatsink and attached them again.Still the same problem,the ram is 2gb stick and the only ddr3 ram i have

4pin my PSU is a ST30NF fanless,will try a cmos reset

Just done a cmos reset and tried to post/boot nothing again.So i moved the cmos jumper to configuration and it booted the to bios screen.Looked around the screen and rebooted,but before it rebooted it told me to change the jumper back to normal so i did

Booted the pc and again the same problem
I'm i missing something here??.Why will it boot to the bios screen if i change the jumper to configuration and yet it will not boot/post set in the normal position

What brand is your PSU, what W, and how old?

ST30NF fanless 350w couple years old,works fine with a more power hungry Q6600 setup

it probably isnt your PSU.

But if you run out of idea, I would swap another PSU in just to make sure.

If all thing fail, you may have to send back the mobo and the CPU to the retailer and have them check and replace the faulty parts.

Just tried another psu and the same result

I don't understand why it will boot to the test bios screen but won't boot fully

My final guess, is either a CPU fault, or the mobo fail to communicate pass the test bios. To isolate the problem, you will need another 1156 cpu or mobo to cross check. Do you know someone who may have a 1156 build to swap parts for a test?

If not, and you ran out of idea, then sent them back to the retailer, and ask them to check and replace the faulty parts. Faulty parts are rare, but it happens.

So you don't think it could be the ram?

I honestly dont know too much about ram, but shouldnt you be able to atleast post and load BIOS without ram?

Anyway, I dont think is the ram. More like a fault on mobo or CPU.

Someone with more knowledge is needed.

Have you connected the HDD using a seperate connector not connected to anything? Also triple checked everything that needs power has it, including various ports on the motherboard itself?

It could be a RAM problem, but not necessarily a hardware fault. You might need to manually reconfigure your RAM/CPU ratio. I've had this problem before.

i'd disconnect any hard drives, dvd drives, any pci cards etc so its just the mobo/cpu/mem plugged in + gfx if you need it (unless you have an onboard display). make sure everything has power, make sure your fan attached to cpu is fully functional and of course plugged in.

I'm edging towards the Ram to be honest. I look at a I5 for mate of mine who had a Gigabyte board combines with G-skill ripjaws ram. Had to remove of them to make it boot. Since you tried that already, I'm would say it could be the mobo or cpu

no you can enter bios with no ram you can even get the windows boot up screen with no ram in place....tho im not saying it aint the ram

I'd like to see that. I've never heard of a system that will boot with no RAM installed.

questforquiet... odd problem. Seeing as it will boot with the jumper in configuration mode, I'd say that it's a configuration or compatibility issue rather than a hardware problem.

When it boots in the test mode, does it detect the 2GB of RAM correctly? Does the test mode give you the chance to change any settings?
