are there any new i5 quad cores coming out soon?? i'm looking to build a new gaming rig, which one would be better though?? i7 920/860 or i5 750? id be using it mostly for gaming and watching videos etc etc

depends how much you want to spend m8 if you go for a i7 processor i would get the i7 920 but i think the i5 750 is just as good for gaming and if you dont want to overclock its got a very good turbo boost up to 3.2 ghz , i got a i5 750 i only wanted something for gaming and internet and mines overclocked to 3.6 ghz and it has not left me skint lol

The i5 750 currently offers the sweetspot for enthusiast gaming systems. The i7s are faster in some heavily threaded applications but not so significantly to justify the 50% increase in price.

The only upcoming lynnfield core i5 quad that i know of is the 750s which is a lower clocked, lower power part so probably not somthing that would interest you.

Go i5 750, get it clocked to 3.6GHz+ and you should be set for 3yrs ez

Go for the i5 750 tbh. I love my 920 but it's more the icing on top of the cake rather than the cake itself. You don't really need hyperthreading or triple channel. It only provides 10-20% performance increase in some cases.

I agree with Reflux.

And for what I do, the i5 750 would have been enough. And in most cases, isn't slower at all.
