Hi looking for a new rig based on he i7 920. Looking to overclock to 4Ghz on air at the min.

Looking for a good MB and around 6-12GB fast memory. Ive got a thermalright 120 i can use of my old setup and a good case and PSU.

Any suggestions on good MB and memory combo. price not realy an isue but not silly money.

Thanks

Thanks for that, looks like the gigabyte extreame for me at the min with the 920. Just to decide on ram now, looks like il go for a 6 gb kit. Did OC stop doing thermalright colllers now.?

i would have gone with ASUS rampage II Extreme and some Corsair RAM, since your going with the Gigabyte, how much are you willing to spend on RAM?

Get the Gigabyte UD5, its the same as the Extreme with a little less cooling but much better price, a bargain on TWO atm.

Ok slowly narrowing my spec down to this, can anyone see any major isues or changes they maight make, it all comes in at around £1200.

Antec 1200 case
Gigabyte EX58 Extreame
i7 920 D0 stepping
Corsair XMS3 6GB (1600Mhz C8)
BFG GTX 260 maxcore
Samsung SM2692HM 26" Screen

Rest of the bits are from my current rig.

Any suggestions would be most greatfull before i give my card a good workout.

the gfx card and screen are a little mismatched tbh, Id be tempted to get the 24" screen and better gfx, 275/285, on a 26" screen a 260 might struggle with some of the very latest games

Realy like the 26" screen as running 20" now. I supose i could always add another 260 at a later date for sli if needed. Thanks for your suggestion.

I agree this is the board I would have gone for, being a Rampage owner myself, it great for overclocking. I think £150 - £180+ for memory on an i7 build us justified.
