new images of 9/11 released

I remember coming home from school to my younger sister shouting through the house at me saying "The Whitehouse has been blown up", so I just thought she was being stupid, so I went up stairs, got changed, and came down to see everyone crowded around the TV watching the events on the news, and I remember just standing there gob smacked at what was happening.

A very sad day.

I was about to go to a sociology class when my brother sent me a text 'Turn the TV on' .. I didn't go to class that day.

Imagine being on the observation deck on the roof, watching a Boeing 767 headed straight for the building you're stood on top of.

Doesn't even bear thinking about.

What a terrible event... i remember coming home from school and my mum was standing outside the door waiting for me in tears. Hadn't hit me properly untill the night time.

Obvious liberal appeaser is obvious.

I'd rather be a liberal appeaser than an ignorant generalizer.

The religion of peace.

Islam is a religion of peace.

Those who twist it to commit atrocities seem to have a lack of basic understanding of the Qu'ran.

For example, the Qu'ran does not, as I understand it, promise paradise with numerous virgins if you die for your cause.

Secondly, it forbids innocents being killed for your cause and mentions that not a tree or blade of grass shall be killed also. Indiscriminate suicide bombing tends to ignore that.

I'm sure that some of our Muslim posters will comment on that or put me right if I am wrong.

was at ground zero other week and some middle eastern looking type came up selling pictures of the planes hitting the towers

"you want pictures?"

"you want smack in mouth?"

I remember just knowing my world was changing around me very very quickly.

I also remember thinking that there was not a more possible declaration of war possible. I knew at that point America would definately go to war over that incident.

I also remember seeing normally staunch democrats or proper anti-bush Americans saying on the day 'I will support the (republican) president 100% in whatever he decides to do. Whatever he chooses is this countries united way forwards, and I am his humble servant, and he will get my vote in the house'. Truly a life-changing day.

Very strange.

I just got home from school when this happened. Walked into the living room and saw this on the TV just as the 2nd plane hit. Don't think I've stood in one spot for so long at home.

Same. Best mate had come back to mine to get some PS2 going. Just sat there on the sofa in shock!

Still sends shivers down my spine looking at those pictures now.

I was at work using a Government Secure Internet (usually lightning quick) when suddenly it went down to a crawl. Then someone said a plane had hit a tower and crashed. It was a bit of a chinese whisper moment as someone made out a plane had overshot a runway or something and hit the control tower. Then we managed to get to some news sites and realised it was the twin towers and an airliner. Then minutes later we got told another had hit and that it was terrorist attacks etc. Never forget that day.

Completley Correct my friend, the religion has been twisted by a few crazy people who are taking a few words and twisting them for their own purposes.

Every religion has got these Loonies.....

The Word "JIHAD" has been vilified, The Prophet Mohammed also spoke about a JIHAD against povery, JIHAD againt Hunger, JIHAD against no education. no one ever talks about this.

Happened while I was doing a technology project thing in Germany with a bunch of other 17-to-20 year olds from UK, Denmark, Germany and France.

We'd had pretty drunken evenings most nights (our teacher chaperones turned a blind eye, bless them), bleary-eyed geekery during the days... Until one day the organiser told us something big had happened in America, not to worry about it, but we'd find out more later. I think we shrugged our shoulders and carried on...

...later on though we were all put in the only room with a telly in the hostel we were staying at, and it was pretty gobsmacking. Was hard not to just brush it off as a disaster-movie scene. It was a quieter night, that night.

I wasn't too bad until we got to the airport to fly home a few days later - all the newspapers had big pictures of Bush, "DECLARES WAR" etc - which sent me into a bit of a panic and I had to phone home to be calmed down as I started worrying about my family and boyfriend and conscription and allsorts!

By the time the flight home actually came around I was OK, but another girl was really rather frightened and needed her hands held on take off and landing...
