Hi, i built a budget pc for a friend. Got as far as having everything built etc, booted up the pc with the monitor connected to the onboard graphics port and nothing happend, sure i saw the pc power on but there was no display on the monitor. It flashes on just as it normally would then instantly goes off. The pc still runs as normal as if nothing has happened, no beeps or anything.

AM2 3000 sempron
asrock alive nf6g-dvi
1024mb stick ddr2 533mhz
maxtor 80gb ide hd
some old samsung dvd rom
generic 420w psu
generic floppy

I've tried unplugging all drives individually and all together with the same result, ive only got the front panel buttons connected to the motherboard (power on and off/lights etc)
I've tried using each memory slot on the board. Nothing works =/ Any suggestions would be helpful !

Not being patronsing but have you made sure you used the spacer screws etc to keep the board of the case?

same as above ,take board out of case and try booting with it out could have a short
also press the power button on monitor if it comes on and you see something and then goes off again ,could be the power inverter in monitor

my 15th pc build :) ill give the power button a try, not tried it as my dad celotaped it because he likes the pc to "hibernate" after 15min (yes im using his monitor :p)
Yep ive used spacer screws and correctly :)

edit

nope just stays in standby mode as before

edit

I guess it might be relevant but im able to power on the pc and reset but im not able to power off the pc via the power button.

lol it was a serious question :p .

Anyway make sure you have connected the 12v 4 Pin connector that comes out of the PSU to the Motherboard.

Theres no jumpers on the board to disable or enable onboard grfx (first thing i checked) :(

Yeah the 12v 4pin connection is connected, only reason i didnt use her old psu was because it didnt even have that!
