So I decided I want to do a fresh install of Windows 7. So I make a bootable USB, plug it in go to advanced drive options and I can't for some reason Format my C drive before an install.

Is there anyway round this? I know the risks and happy to do so, I have always formatted before installing it makes more sense to me.

"Cannot" ?

Error messages, greyed out option, option not available at all?

Do it in a bootable environment, or go to the recovery portion of the Windows 7 Setup, drop a command prompt and run the format command manually.

I do not see any reason why Windows 7 Setup is not allowing you to delete the existing partition though.

The format option is greyed out. Not allowing me to hit Format on the disk, very annoying.

Format command manually could work.....

Thanks
