New Install

Hi all,

Just ordered a new set up (DS3 with SATA drive) and XP Media Centre, and two SATA DVD/RW etc

I have read in the past about needing a floppy disk drive to install SATA from scratch, is this right, or can I just plug and go as such?, I don't own a floppy drive or even a disc...am I fubarred?

My ds4 worked without the floppy, but iirc it depends on which sata ports you going to use.

Mine installed without the SATA drivers needing to be installed, should be ready to go. Otherwise nip to the local computer store and get a FDD for a fiver!

hmm, ok, so there's different sorts of SATA ports?, this should be interesting :d

Mine didn't need a floppy drive either, I thought I would need drivers but then realised I had disconnected the sata power cable and forgotten to reconnect it LOL

Not different, just different controllers (intel and gigabyte)
