New Intel Processors Announced

Wish there was a definate date as to when they will be hitting the shelves.

The xeon x3350 and the q9450 both look the same so which would be the better choice?
 
Would think the E8400 would be the overclockers choice, the x9 multi is reasonably tasty and should match up well with FSB and CPU overclocking limits.

The quads are going to be FSB limited to below 4GHz even though the chips themselves should be able to do a lot more with decent cooling.
 
What exactly is the point in the x9000, especially at that price :confused: Or do you think that it's a laptop CPU perhaps?

Seen samples of the E8400 doing 4.9ghz with the stock cooler and 1.425V in BIOS (1.4V in CPU-Z)!

The stock heatsink will be the same or similar to the one supplied with current Core 2 Extremes :)

Nah, the 8500 has a 9.5x multi, though. But to be honest, for the same price as the Q9300 or Q6600 that's a steep hill to climb.

I'm genuinely interested in the E8400 and I think that'll probably be my next upgrade along with a reasonably priced P35 board. I'm gonna aim for 9x445=4005 stable. That'd do me luverly, especially since that'd be about the performance of a Conroe running at 4.4Ghz or so.

Edit: Both the Q9300 and E8500 are listed at $266 in 1000 unit quantities - that's the same as the Q6600 is now so £150-160 is reasonable.

The Q6600 was at a price premium upon its price drop because it'd dropped the price by a LOT I believe and some etailers were still trying to make ground on old stock for a while...
 
can I get a CPU "Now E8500" reserved ? if yes How ?
