New iPhone on the way?

Just seen on the news that Apple have confirmed they is a new iPhone just around the corner, they mentioned in the report that this is due to a few things, but mainly because they noticed that in firmware 2.2.1 they would not update the software, but just the hardware on the phone...

What do they mean by this? does this mean the new iPhone will have new features we will never be able to get on the current version?!

They also mentioned about Copy & Paste being available on the new version...

Sorry if this kinda old news, but I just found out!

On Sky news (TV) they mentioned they was gonna be a slight change to hardware, but more better improvements to the software, which apperently cant be implemented to the current gen of iPhone.

Any they also said that Apple have confirmed its just round the corner, but I cant seem to find anything to back it up...
 
Rumoured for ages, & was always going to happen at some point. Can't miss milking the iPhone cash cow now can they :) 30odd % of revenue I believe.

Current iPhone cycle is around June'ish so would expect it some time around then.

Looking forward to see what it brings & will probably jump on this time.
 
The thing that i'm waiting for is a better camera, the iphone camera is laughable and i cant get decent pics whatever i do!
 
I have to say that I will be upgrading on the launch date too!

Edit: Better camera is only one I can really think of that I would remotely want.

Battery life hasn't been an issue for me yet.

Way too perfect. If they fulfilled all of that then no one would bother with another phone for the most part.

All I want is sodding MMS and a better camera. Oh and the ability to jailbreak the bugger so I'm free from a pants appstore.
 
Apple have loads of patents for things they have never released. How is the Gizmodo link in anyway proof?

I'll believe it when I see Apple announce it. *BOOM*

Yes me too. I've been overly happy with my iPhone since I bought it. The announcement of a new edition doesn't make me any less happy. Very strange.

As for the new one - it will be interesting to see what they change, I'll wait for hard and fast stats before deciding if I'll bother to upgrade or not.

As for features missing on the current one I'm really not fussed about the camera. They only way I can see them really improving it is by adding a flash which is going to screw the lovely looks up unless they are very clever.

The only time I've had any problems with the iPhone camera is in low lighting conditions but to be honest, any camera phone without flash is going to suffer from the same problem so it's not really bothered me.

I think it does very well in good light - it's just not ideal if all you use it for is taking photos in night clubs.
