New iPhone Tarrifs

This is seriously tempting me to get an iPhone... just the camera is really holding me back... I really like the 3.2mp one on my K800i and want something at least as good as that.

Data is unlimited on the iPhone tariff (yes, real unlimited) and always has been, hardly horrific. :D

Also on a slightly different note, look at the thread further down regarding O2's tariffs for 'normal' contracts as they are changing too in Feb.

EDIT: whoops, the normal o2 tariff thread I saw wasn't on this forum, it was here:

..£1 a day = £31 a month on data alone - now THATS horrific! 3 or Tmobile are the only companies to go for mobile data.

And the iphone is still very expensive compared to all other phones - regardless of whether or not you think the iphone is any good (which I happen to think not!)

The camera is very good for 2mp in my opinion, i certainly prefer it to the camera on my old nokia N73 :)

Check some pics taken with iphone here

It may be 'good' for 2mp but compare it to normal mobiles 3.2mp to 5mp its totally usless - that and it doesnt record video (ok, using a 3rd party app you might but the video quality is awful).

I would have put money on you coming into an iphone thread and moaning :p

I think you've completely missed the point of the £1 a day thing, never mind. Stick with what you have if you are happy. :)

Not at all, yes the rate may be better than before and I understand the intention is for it to be used as and when. But just compare it to £7.50 for 1 month, its simply not comparable. I was on o2 since 2000 (when it was BT Cellnet) its a good network, the only reason I left is because of its expensive data rates (which for the N95 8Gb to use to its capacity you need).

The thing is you can get unlimited data on o2 for 7.50... the £1 a day thing is just for people who use it occasionally, so they dont have to worry about getting use data bills like before.

"A fair use of 200MB per month applies to the O2 Web Bolt On" - Come on guys stop defending o2, they need to sort out their data rates, 200Mb certainly isnt 'unlimited', I have no idea how they get away with it.

I certainly wasn't defending any fair usage policies, I was talking about the £1 daily maximum charge?

Fair usage policies do indeed suck, but O2 are probably one of the better companies with regards to this as as long as you are only using the phone for browsing/downloading then it is indeed unlimited (even over 200mb). Their 'excessive use policy' only applies to people using their phones as modems so if you do download over 200mb on your PC then clearly you would be better off at a different provider who have a tariff to suit you.

But, this all has nothing to do with the original conversation regarding people having a £1 cap on data charges per day, which will save a lot of people money.

i would am still considering one of these. however, i need at least 1000 texts a month :( but wouldnt pay more than £35 a month for it. as on vodaphone i am getting unlimited texts for £40

Well you'd have to pay £42.50 (£35 + £7.50) if you wanted unlimited texts on an iPhone tariff. It's whether you want to pay £2.50 more than you do currently or not that counts.

£35 x 18 = £630 + £270 for handset = £900

atleast you now get a decent amount of minutes, but it is still a rip off. the data is only really worth £10 a month.
