New kettle advice.

you can't spend a minute filling a tea-pot with water from an instant heat device which won't be maintaining a good 100C versus 5s dumping a boiling kettle into it.

... an iphone makes good phone calls, but for all other tasks browsing/photos/music other dedicated devices are superior,
I spend more time every day manipulating a kettle than a phone ... so it's utility is important.

e: hacked off the redirect incorrectly - white one I have still great after 5 years 0.5Kwhr/day seems oos atm , I even bought a spare because I like it so much.

Thing with those, is that what do you do when you need a 'kettle' worth of water?
I've got a kettle - mostly because we're British and every kitchen needs a kettle.

I bought a new one to match the coffee machine. Haven't used it though. It's just sitting there for that occasion that might happen, but hasn't yet occurred.

Why not by a fancy one then where you can control it from your phone.

Get one where it’s connected to the mains and you can control and schedule a fresh cup on a morning.

2 birds….1 stone n all that jazz…

In the time it's taken to boil the kettle, the instant hot water machine would have filled the teapot with boiling water.

The Dualit Architect kettle is recommended, expensive but decent. One thing having used often over 2 years, it doesn't scale up on the outside so it looks new. Whereas, stainless steel kettles can look a scaley mess over time.

For a cheap kettle, have a look at Good Housekeeping Guide

the asda sub £20 one , won the which award .... and philips just said get lost when I rang up with dead £40+ prdecessor kettle 2 years into ownership.

multi-tasking - I switch the kettle on at lunch/breakfast time go and do something else ~3mins, finish washing/prepping breakfast come down and fill the tea-pot in 5s ... productivity.
