I originally had a Y-UY95 P/N:820-001286 PID:LZ835B2 (Logitech K740)?

This keyboard has worked perfectly for many, many years. It's been great for typing, gaming, whatever I threw at it. Recently it started getting a few dodgy/sticky keys so I decided to replace it.

I wanted the exact same keyboard so I bought a K740. It looked the same, had the same Y-UY95 code on it but I was unable to press W+SHIFT+SPACE at the same time so it became useless for gaming.

Is this normal? Have I got a defective one? Did Logitech "fix" a keyboard that wasn't broken and end up breaking it?

I've tried several different drivers. OS=Windows 10 64bit

Please help if you can.
Failing that can you recommend something very similar to the K740? I like basic illumination of the keys but have no need for RGB. I'm not really interested in mechanical keys either all that clanking gets on my t%&s over Discord as it is without having in my own office.

Question could be about "ghosting" and "roll over".
Depending on actual design of circuitry monitoring key presses keyboards accept different number of simultaneous key presses with also variation between combinations.
You can use this to test that.

You could try asking Logitech's support if that behaviour is norm for current manufacturing.

As for non-mechanical keyboards good for gaming I don't think there are that many of those.

Thanks useful link
I tired Logitech and pretty much a generic response. I'll return this one and and try and get another one from somewhere.

I've found similar k740 complaints on another forum (maybe you, because it's the exact same key combination?)

I would suggest finding a keyboard with NKRO. It's not all that hard and I suspect you're misinformed about mechanical keyboards. The clicky clacky sound comes from one particular type of key switch (usually "blue" ones, as the main manufacturer Cherry's clicky model are MX Blue). Other switches are available such as brown (no audible click but a tactile bump similar to membrane keys) and red (smooth travel and no sound).

It's worth experimenting!

Thanks for the reply Lucky. No not me, only posted and on here and the Logi forum this past week.
Clicky clacky sound I have heard on various keyboard review videos and with various makes and switches.

I do like the low profile of the membrane but I will experiment for sure. Can I ask what you use?

At home I have a Zowie Celeritas - fairly standard keyboard with brown switches. It's quite heavy though and I've added rubber o-rings to damp the impact of each key. I do type quite hard.

At work I'm not picky and use a standard Lenovo rubber dome keyboard. It's largely for gaming that I like the mechanical. I like the firmer feel.
