Hello everyone.

So I'm thinking of buying new peripherals for the computer. Mainly a new keyboard and mouse.

At the moment I'm using a cheap dell keyboard and a 2 year old Razer copperback gaming mouse.

I feel like upgrading now.

Firstly mouse. Budget max £100

#1 priority - it needs to be comfortable.

Note I'll be using it for wow and many online FPS such as CSS, COD and TF

I've been quite pleased with my current razer product. How about the razer naga guys? My only concern is the macro keys on the side? Is it comfortable and does it get in the way of your playing for FPS games? Rec me some !

Secondly Keyboard.

Budget £110 max

Preferably a gaming keyboard. I previously had a saitech eclipse II keyboard(loved it but it broke all of a sudden one day) I really enjoyed using it when it was working so something along those lines would be cool.

It must have a backlight thingy for the keys. I play a lot at night.

The logitech G19 looks cool, or can I get cheaper/better alternatives.

Looking forward to the replies, sorry for the long text.

Cheers.

£200 on keyboard and mouse :o

Razer gear is extremely comfortable to me and advantageous for gaming due to the addition of extra mappable buttons. Would highly recommend.

You can choose their products to suit your needs more specificly but I have a tarantula (discontinued) and a imperator (newest one).

Mouse - no need to spend anywhere near that, a logitech G500 is a brilliant choice, if you really want wireless then go for the G700.

Keyboard - Forget "Gaming" keyboards, load of rubbish, spend the money you save on the mouse on a decent Mechanical Keyboard, and you can still have the back lighting if you really want it.
Mechanicals with backlighting to look at are:
QPAD MK80 or MK85
Corsair Vengeance K90(however not all the keys are mechanical)
Razor Blackwidow ultimate
Ducky shine
Xarmor U9BL

bare in mind that all these boards have different switch types, if going mechanical its best to do a bit of research before putting money down.

What's everyones experiences with mechanical keyboards?

Pros/cons? The general idea of them sounds awesome.

A worthy investment. Although typing on a non mechanical is now quite odd and not very nice. Can be noisy though if you bottom out the keys like I do. Tempted to get some o-rings to dampen the click from bottoming out.

i had to use an old keyboard for abit, Logitech G15. And i just found it terrible after using a mechanical for awhile.
i actually thought it was a decent keyboard when i used to use it

luckily i was only stuck with it a day (split beer on my black widow and had to dry it out)

Pros?
The build quality and feel of a decent mechanical board really is amazing, something that is hard to truely appeciate unless you have actually tryed one, you'll never want to go back.

Cons... i'm yet to find one other than price, but as they say "you get what you pay for"

if you want to go down the mechanical route check out this thread, should answer all your questions and more.

***woops, didnt see the post 2 above mine:o

The Razer black widow looks very nice. One question though.

The macro keys on the far left, do they hinder you in anyway?

I'm afraid I'll mistake the bottom macro key for my CTRL key. Maybe I'm looking too much into it? Regardless, I think I want one.

the biggest con is that u'll never be able to use a non mechanical keyboard again. So every time u buy a new keyboard, then its gonna cost u :P

The black widow is a nice keyboard, i've never acidently hit the macro keys.
Plus the programmable controls are useful.

it means i can remap WASD to the other side of the keyboard (left handed) to play games properly
