The missus wants a new Kitchen, I do as well, but unsure of the price of everything. We live in a 2 bedroomed Terraced house. This is not going to be our final house, and I think the work that the missus wants doing is a bit OTT.

Basically we have an old dining room that was changed into an Kitchen, it has the old chimney breast visable, and the mrs wants to knock into this and put a range cooker in its place. She has priced up the kitchen units including the cupboards and dishwasher, cooker etc, and we have had quotes for the building work, as well as the plasterer and sparky, as well as the kitching being fitted.

The total price is £4000

Does this seem a tad expensive and as I said before, its not even our final house.

Might as well then its only going to cost you around £3 a day and as it will most likely add value to the house it could work out even less then that.

Sure, I suppose when you look at it like that then the cost is quite small in comparison, and I hope that Kitchens do sell houses. :D

To be honest that doesn't sound that much. Kitchen's are pant ****ingly expensive things. Should add value to your property as well.

I paid nearly twice that figure in the early eighties so I think it's not OTT. It will improve the property and be nice to use whilst you are there so go for it.

That dosen’t sound like very much considering you also have some building works, etc. You could quite easily spend double that using specialised kitchen designers. Remember that not only are you creating something nice for yourselves but you adding value to your property and people do take note of kitchens when buying.

My parents paid the best part of 30 grand for their kitchen.

It's all wooden crafted, hand made and has a tonne of marble in it, looks stunning but I expected it too look nice for that price.

Well my parents kitchen cost £12billion, it exists in the Nth dimension, you can literally never fill the freezer up and the cupboards have portals to habitats containing elves that grow all their food for them. There are even pixies that clean the kitchen when everyone is asleep.

It's great but it should be for that price.

4K, sound cheap, who did you get the quote from? Some chain store? Please let me know as I want to get my kitchen done but don't wanna spend more than 5k.

:)

The in-laws were quoted 4k just to fit their kitchen/diner about 3 years ago. Kitchen itself cost nearly the same. As has been said the initial outlay always seems ott.
