New kitchen

Boiler & cooker move today. Boiler is down & in new location, just being plumbed in. Gas supply for the cooker's new location is looking like it might need a bit of fettling as access under the dining room floor is a bit tight. Still, the guy seems to know what he's doing.

Not having the boiler halfway along the wall is making such a huge difference already.

Got my kitchen, extractor, Samsung hob + oven, franke sink and taps for £1800 from b&q and fit it myself they wanted another £3000 atleast for them to fit it. Its no more difficult than any other flat pack stuff.

The £99 extractor looks very similar to one I got from b&q for about £60 and still working great 2 years on.

Mini update: how far I've got...

Boiler has been moved.
Cooker has been moved.
Recessed 'bookcase' built in.
New ring, sockets and extractor feed installed 1st fix but not connected.
LED downlighters in ceiling.
Plasterer has also been in since the pic below was taken and it'll all have a mist coat and base coat of trade white by the end of the weekend.
And my basil plant has died :(

If you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost to move the cooker - I assume it's gas? I need to move mine in the not to distant future and it's almost an identical move to yours.

Hard to say as it was done at the same time as the boiler was moved, which is obviously a bit of a bigger job. But as its only relocating a gas pipe (I did all the other work) I'd reckon about £100 max, as long as the pipe is easy to access. Ours came in under the suspended floor of the dining room so it was dead easy to move. If you've got it coming up through a solid floor you'll have a lot more work.

Nope, it hasn't. :) Main issue with that is the lead time on the kitchen units, 16wks when we ordered them.

And I've stripped and replastered the 3rd bedroom which will be a nursery for sprog #2, due at the end of October.

Thanks!

The two RSJs across the ceiling were painted green as well which didn't help. The new colour will be... green. Well, white with a green hint.

Ordered the oak worktops today. One of them is 4.03m (an important detail) long, I've no idea how I'm going to move it!

Ah so you got one made to custom size, that's what I was just about to suggest rather than joining them but only just came across the thread.

Yep. Though they wanted some eye-watering price for a piece cut to 4030mm so they're putting a 40mm oak endcap on and I'll trim down the other end to make it fit. Two pieces would be easier to handle though... ah well.

I was up until 12:15 last night, painting the ceiling and all the coving. Giving the walls a first coat of their final colour tonight.

Kitchen units will be delivered tomorrow morning. I'm quite excited..!

Kitchen has arrived! And it's fantastic. Solid timber hand-built units, they smell amazing!

Friday I painted the walls their finished colour and scrubbed the floor clean of a couple of months worth of plaster dust.

Yesterday we put in four of the base units, the wall cupboard and the door to hide the boiler. One of the worktop sections arrives tomorrow but I'm going to have to wait until the end of the week for the other bit and to finish off the other units.

No handles yet as we're still deciding, hence the masking-tape pulls for now.
