Hi guys, I just bought this monitor http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-045-LG&groupid=17&catid=510&subcat= and it doesn't look good at all it's all blury and when I play games it lags, like if I were to chuck a flashbnag I can see it lagging behind in mid air. My guns also have a lot of green stuff on them whihc only happebs on this monitor. I know thats not a very good description of what my monitor is doing. I have installed all the drivers and im using the DVI cable. I recently upgraded from a 17" CRT on the blue cable "duuno what thats called". Could my pc still be using the CRT setings?

Like I said it's a crap description, but hopefully someone understands. I just don't think it's working properly. Doesn't look as good as it in in the picture on the site.

Please try best to help me, ask me questions I'll try to answer.

what resolution are you running it in?
For the best picture you should be running it in 1680 x 1050

Nah you should really just be fine with the DVI connection (although clearly things are a bit messed up here).

All I can think is to pop into safe mode and to see what monitors are listed in device manager (hopefully just the LG).

Other than that, have a look in your monitor's control menu to make sure response time compensation is enabled (I don't know the term LG use but for Samsung monitors it's called RTA).

When I go into safemod then device manager, no monitors appear but when I go into normal windows it says;
Default monitor
lg l226wtq(digital)

Should it say Default monitor?

Format fresh install of drivers?

That sounds like 2 entries so try deleting both and just rebooting, cancelling any prompts for installing new hardware, then installing the LG driver yourself.

I uninstalled both, restarted PC, went back into device manager and they were both still there.

Could that be because I had the dvi cable in te other slot on the back of my PC aswell?

Also when I start up my pc it says "Digital power saving mode" untill its logs me in and then it shows the desktop.

*EDIT*

Also I have two DVI slots in the back of my pc, I have two 7900GS, in my computer manual it says to plug the monitor in the primary dvi slot and it shows a pic of the primary being under a dvi slot but on my pc they are next to each oher should I plug it in any of them or the left one?

I'm sorry for the lack of follow-up lawl. I don't have any experience of using cards in SLI, but I would have thought that as long as you're connecting to either of the DVI slots on the card that sits in your main pci-express slot, that there shouldn't really be an issue.

I think a format would be a pretty extreme solution, but maybe a thorough reinstallation of your video card drivers could do the trick.

Anyway...issues like that still don't really explain the two problems you were talking about. Is there any chance you could grab a screenshot of when that 'green gun' effect takes place and then post it here to let us look at it? If it also showed up on the screenie then that would kind of rule out the monitor as being responsible.

And the ghosting, it really shouldn't be that noticeable on a 2ms TN panel. Did you have a look inside your monitor options to see if response time compensation was enabled?

lawlballs I can't really offer any help but on reading this thread I have to ask if you have tried you new monitor using a VGA lead instead of the DVI and if so was the problem still the same?

Well, I have seemed to have fixed it now by formating, still using DVI, and the picture looks a lot better. Still in games I "think" I'm seeing a bit of ghosting or weirdness in game, I can't find the "response time compensation".

Thanks

I have the same monitor running on the dvi connection but with a single GTS

colours look great and no ghosting that I have ever noticed (certainly not in half life 2, city of heroes or Company of heroes all at 1680x1050)

hmmm, not for me it's not. I'll try and describe it better.

I have a pritty good computer, with two 7900 GS with SLI enabled. I have plugged the DVI into my monitor and my PC. It looks kinda cloudy/blurry. I tried with anologue, the screen is pushed to the right, like when I put up my PC all the wrighting is off screen on the left hand side. No differnce in the way it looks.

In games, im notcing when I through a flashbang I can see the trail of it, ghosting, yeah. Then quite a bit of the time a wavy line goes up the screen, don't really know how to explain that. Then all of a sudden in games green oacths appear on the gun, but I'm gonna blame that on the game (CS:S). Movies look really dark when it's in dark and I struggle to see peoples faces.

I'm gonna try and install some software that came with it, see if that does anything. Mabe I can find the respond time compensatin in there?

Thanks, your help is very appraciated.

when this happened to me i restored defaults in the nvidia control panel and that seemed to do the trick for the darkness issue, dont know if this will fix the green gun problem but it is definately worth a try
