New Linux Install Need Help!!!

Hi I've just finished installing Linux Ubuntu and when I boot it says:

Verifying DMI Pool Data...................................
GRUB Loading stage1.5.


GRUB loading, please wait.....
Error 18

That's it can anyone help me!

I have now tried reinstalling Linux and at the end it said wether I wanted to install boot loaders for GRUB, elipse and something else I think this is the resoning for the first problem but how can I overcome this one.

I have now downloaded Ubuntu Server edition and install it that does the same thing!!!

What drives are you using? Error 18 seems to related to IDE drives and/or your bios settings for their size, LBA/CHS etc.

I use to get error 18 when i had ubuntu installe,d and then tryed to add xp after to duel boot. I just formated and did xp > and mint instead of ubuntu because i prefer it
