new lock on micra?

well the lock has been abit funny on the micra for a while (97 plate), its always been a bit stiff but today it seems to have given up the ghost; just will not turn to lock or unlock at all.

so i need to get this fixed right? but to be honest im not sure how i go about doing this. cant just get one from the scrappy becuase the same key to unlock the door is used for the ignition.

so anyone have any idea what kind of price im looking at to get a new unit installed? not sure which model it is but its 10 years old i think. cheers

Do you really need to lock it tbh. My old car you could open the door with any key you liked but then it was worth 2 bob so it didnt matter so much

Have a seperate key for the door and the ignition maybe. Maybe the key is worn out?

thanks for the reply. not locking the door is not an option, also the key cant be worn out as it works on the passangers side. anyone with any ideas how much a replacement lock would be?

Get down to a scrappy, you should be able to get a set for £25 inc the ign barrel,the ign is quite hard to do, but the door look is easy as pie, remove the door card inside, and you will be able to see what needs to be done to remove the lock (normally a big metal clip and a plastic clip).
