new M/B & Case ordered

hi guys
Ordered a new Gigabyte Z68AP-D3 Intel Z68 & Fractal Design Define R3 Midi Tower Case

My question is will the conector for the front panel go straight in the M/B for the usb 3 etc etc ?

I may be wrong, but I don't think the AP-D3 has a USB 3.0 internal header, only a plug at the back. So getting a USB 3.0 case is pointless with this mobo.

I'm sure the relevant cables will go straight in the motherboard for USB 2.0 etc. but I'm not sure about the USB 3.0.

The case only has 1 front mounted USB 3.0, not 2 as stated on OcUK.

The motherboard has 2 USB 3.0 ports on the rear I/O panel but that's it, there are no headers on the motherboard for any more.

If the cable for the USB 3.0 port on the case uses a 20 pin header connection then you won't be able to use it.

If it uses the type of cable which plugs into a USB 3.0 port then you'll have to plug it into one on the rear I/O panel leaving you with one free.

Yeah, I initially thought the same thing as I got the same motherboard (ordered, not arrived yet) and was looking for a USB 3.0 case. I realised I can't really afford a 3.0 case and came across an Antec 300 for a good deal and was looking for a mod to get USB 3.0. Later realised that mobo doesn't support it anyway so didn't feel so bad about not getting the 3.0 case.

Is there a adaptor so I plug the lead from the case into then a usb lead into the USB back port ?

That sounds like a good idea. I have no idea if something like that exists though.

I'd wait and see what you get.

If the cable from the front mounted USB 3.0 port has a male USB 3.0 connector you can just plug it straight into the rear I/O panel.
