Can anyone tell me why i'm getting this cack benchmark ? just got round to putting my new Crucial 128gb M4 in and run the as ssd program and goit this result.

It is on one of the 6gbs sata ports, It has 009 firmware, It is set to AHCI mode, it's not been hammered with benching and I also run ATTO bench here is that result.

This really annoying buy a faster and bigger drive bench it and I get slower speeds than my Intel 80gb sata II
What have done wrong / what can I do about it ??

Looks similar to my results with my corsair Force 3 its something to do with the pretty fail P55 Marvell controller.

I could be wrong so dont hold me to this.

OMG yeah!

The M4 uses a Marvel controller, I had this EXACT problem, which hilariously isn't compatible with a Marvel MB port.

Unplug the M4 from it and put it in one of the Gray Intel ports (may require a reinstall of OS though)

Using a Sata3 cable? Definitely plugged into a Sata3 port?

Those numbers look like Sata2 saturation to me.

Yes definitely using sata III cable and in a sata III port.

I thought this but everyone I asked prior to purchase said it would be ok :(

Oh Great !! So that is my only option ? run it in a sata II port ?

I just checked my thread when I saw these results on my Force 3

Im still getting these results so Im sure its the P55 sata3 controller thats limiting.

can't go to link.. you do not have permission to access this page

Sounds like it's the mobo / cable / port, not the drive. Got similar results when I mistakenly plugged mine into SATA2.

Mine is in a sata III port checked it 3 times this morning :D

The board you're using doesn't support SATA 3 natively. I haven't seen any 3rd party controller that can run at full SATA 3 speeds yet...

just looked at the manual and the 2nd set of grey SATA ports (looking from top to bottom). The first set are the Marvel ones.

I don't suppose it will be any different in one of these either then Asus U3S6 USB 3.0 and SATA III PCIe Card.
I got one ;)

So to recap the best thing to do is put it in a sata II port ? will it be quicker or about the same as I'm getting now ?
Is there an Intel 6gbs controller card I can get so it will run quicker.

I went from a 80gb G2 to a M4 and noticed no difference in everyday use so your not missing much.. Just figures..

Need a SB board to get the most from it..

So If I wanted to upgrade my motherboard to get it to run at full whack,
What would you all recommend don't mind if I have change mobo and cpu nor does the cost matter that much (but not stupid amounts)
Also must be either all black or black & red combo or even all red. hehe!!
I await the big list :D

I would really not bother, not just for a SSD running at SATA2.
