Hey guys,
just got my new M4 128gb, installed windows onto it using the SATA 6GB/S ports, but becouse my motherboard is a P7P55D-E I do not have native support for 6gb/s so whenever I boot I have to press F8 and select to boot from the controller. which labels my drive as "IDE:CRUICAL m4 128GB", s
o I take it this means that it is using the 6gb/s BUT has not installed using AHCI? So what would be better, SATA II with AHCI and no need to press F8 at boot or Sata III with IDE?

its a different sata controller for sata3 on that mb,did you set the marvel ports to ahci in the bios? not the intel sata2 ports? both will work ok on ahci if you have drives connected to them

and ahci will always give faster speeds with an ssd

Hey thanks for the reply, I could not find a setting for anything to do with the Marvel ports in the BIOS but I did set the intels to ahci, the issue I am currently facing is how to get my boot device to boot from the SSD on the marvel ports first.

look through each bios page carefully i dont know what its called exactly but it will be marvel or something and an option to turn it from ide to ahci

to boot from the marvell ports just select boot priority and set the m4 as first boot device then save/exit and it will boot from m4
