New M5 official specifications here

Seriously quick stuff considering it's weight. No doubt it'll be brilliant.

I think the most important figure is that it appears to have combined mpg of 28.5

Surely that will never be met, the current one has combined of about 23mpg~ doesn't it, and most owners see low teens unless on a motorway run.

Most remarkable, perhaps, but most important? Not to anyone who's actually going to buy one I shouldn't imagine!:p

That's remarkable - a 4.4l Twin Turbo'd V8, 552bhp, 680nm torque and it can still get 29mpg and only emits 232g/km.

I don't mean to sound like a fan boy, but i honestly think BMW build THE most technically superior cars in the world.

Or they've got the EU emmision tests down to a T :D

Very impressive figures non the less :p

I think the turbos help with the overall efficiency, as we were to expect from a car that now has to be seen to be saving the environment on one hand and destroying it with the other.

wouldnt be surprised if the new M5 had some kind of special map that detects the behaviour of the EU test and spooled the turbos down or something.

VALVETRONIC on the inlet will also help the pumping losses on the NEDC aswell as the DCT shift points. Does anyone know if its moved over to EPAS like the base F10?

Impressive figures though thats sure! XFR is 292g/km pretty much worse in class and not helped by using a supercharger.
