Also, any tips on what OS I should choose with the 4GB of RAM? Im not that familiar with Vista yet, is 64bit worth it? or should I stick to the tried and tested XP?

Thanks in advance for any input! :D

Offtopic but, I just checked forums and I thought for a second "what the hell, who posted on my account?".

Hello :p

All I have to add is don't bother with 4GB of ram, unless you're using huge files in photoshop or something, I have never used more than 2GB on my rig below on pretty much any game on max settings.

Put money towards something else ;)

Rare to find a bean around these days with the same interests :P
And just out of curiosity as it's such a small world, add me to msn riokou at hotmail dot com.

If you haven't ordered by the I can help, but right now, busy with work posting on OcUK! ;)
I work at Tech Supplies if you ever pass!

Hello :p

lol thought you were the same person then. :p

Anyway Welcome to the forums ChrisCjsy, nice spec their but i would change a few things.

If your overclocking i would higly recomend an aftermark cooler like the Tuniq Tower or if you would like the best go for the Thermalright Ultra Extreme.

The Memory to Crucial Ballistix , overclock to 1000MHZ+. Just to save a bit of money.

Change the Graphics Card to a standard GTX, the OC2 version is sort of a waste of money, you can clock the standard one to them speeds anyway.

Think about changing the Hard drive to a Western Digital , they are quite and fast. The Seagate drives will be a bit of a lottery weather you get a quite one or not.

The PSU to the Corsair 520.

The case is up to you but i would go for something with a bit better build quality like this or this , they are both fantastic cases. :)

Spec looks really good, can't fault it, except you'll want something to cool that Q6600 when overclocking. Would suggest a thermalright 120 ultra extreme and a nexus fan (not from here).

Can't one of you two have the username Bergerac or something? :D

Thanks for the quick reply and usefull info, shame its on order now. I can always upgrade to some nice new parts in the future.... (Or send back if i have any problems.)

For some reason I have always been a fan of Tagan PSU's. Never had one blow up on me lol.

Im not too too fussed about OCing for the moment, although i will get stuck in on setting fire to my PC at some point, I think for the moment im safer not too :P (Started thinking whilst typing this post.........maybe a bigger heatsink and fan would make things more fun? ;) )

My main plans for this rig was to make it quiet, then make it fast. So water cooling might be an option in the future, but I cant get myself to trust water passing through my PC lol!

What experiences have been had with Vista 64 bit? is the Intel C2 Quad actually up to the task of showing some performance in 64 bit?

Edit: lol, Bergerac....

Just to add, Im going to change the HDD to the recommended as the seagate is out of stock with no ETA! Great! haha

Thanks for the tip stickroad!

That probably wasn't the best thing to say.. :( But you are the same person aren't you ? Both chris from jersey... both like computers... but wanted the same username ! :p

To add something constructive... I'd choose a lian li case of some sort personally, or an antec p182. What will you use the pc for ?

Its for gaming, development(.net,web, etc) and media.

I looked at some of the Lian-Li cases, they are very nice cases. Excellent build quality. Just not what i was looking for this time, possibly for a future build.....

Just been reading up on Vista 64. Seems that it would all work well, the RAM would be recognized properly etc. Now its down to software and games compatibility i guess.....

Anyone know of any particular games that will not work with vista 32/64?

Quite a lot of games suffer from poor performance due to drivers, I have a build of XP Pro and Vista Ultimate 32bit and I've been trying out a few games to check DX10 and to prove a few mates wrong.

Right now, all it has on it is games, updates, nothing else, it's purely going to be a DX10 games build ;P No messenger, no ..nothing!

Hmm, I hate dual booting my machine. Have had my current rig running XP Pro and XP 64 for a while, i think i have booted into 64bit all of 6 times in the last 4 years of owning this system lol

I think im gonna take a jump into Vista 64. I will run all my current games and test some drivers and report back here when it all arrives....

But, I do plan of stripping all the happy rubbish out of vista, and tweaking it till it runs like XP :p

Found some good articles about tweaking vista here: http://www.extremetech.com/category2/0,1695,530826,00.asp
