New MacMini & iMacs?

Integrated graphics aren't as bad as they used to be.

I ran South Park: Stick of Truth on the previous generation without any trouble at 1080p.

The newer one is faster.

Don't expect to be running BF4 at max settings ;)

Virtually silent.

Is the fan always running or only when it needs to like in a macbook?

The new house is so quiet... I thought the iMac was silent in the last place when no fan running... but the spinning hard drive noise annoys me!

For my audio system, i want silent... I was going to build something with a low power cpu and heatsink case to remove all fans completely.... mini might do the trick if the fan only comes on once in a while.

MacBook fans are always running, just at minimal rpm when not under load. My 2009 mini runs at 1500rpm when idling, never typically goes above 2200rpm when doing HTPC duty. I can't hear it in the living room now it's got an SSD fitted.

When it was on desktop duty in the spare room the 5400rpm hard drive was louder than the cooling system, and it was barely audible. I've heard it spin the fans up once in the years I've owned it - and that was when it was running a firmware update.

Oh wow. Thanks for your input regarding the silence.
I got it this afternoon, only £375.60 with work discount.

Lovely stuff. With regards to keyboards.. is there any cheaper option than the standard apple ones which seem a bit over priced :(

Ordered the following:

27-inch iMac with Retina 5K display
4.0GHz QC i7 Turboboost 4.4GHz
8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM-2X4GB
3TB Fusion Dr (3TB+128GBFlash)
AMD Radeon R9 M295X 4GB GDDR5
APPLE MAGIC MOUSE
APPLECARE

Going to get 32GB RAM from elsewhere and upgrade it straight away, I opted for the 3TB drive rather than the SSD as I have a lot of media and don't want an external drive cluttering up my desk.

7-10 working days for delivery :(

So it turned up yesterday, so far I'm impressed. Running XCOM @ 5K works really well, gets the fans going though so I need to turn the volume up!

One feature I especially like is swiping the magic mouse switches applications, so I can be playing XCOM, swipe to my desktop to write an email via the magic mouse, and move straight back to XCOM without closing it. Maybe I'm easily impressed.

The fusion drive is also very good, I've not noticed any application lag when installing or loading anything.

The Apple ones are really worth it though. I really like typing on mine...in fact I prefer Apple keyboards (+ macbook keyboards) over anything else. Definitely give one a try.

Personally I use the small bluetooth keyboard now, but I've had the bigger wired version in the past.

Ordered the 5K iMac today, 2-3 weeks delivery

4GHz, M295X, 256Gb SSD.

They must be running low on 5k screens.

I've been using Google remote desktop to set mine up but it's an HTPC. Have a wireless keyboard but staring at a plasma at 1080p is just kinda weird for desktop work.

I got the logitech solar keyboard for MAC for £29 so been using that, and its great.. what have you done to me mac, just ordered a specced up MBP Retina 15" cant wait for that beauty to arrive!

It's needs configuring correctly at the point of purchase. There's no RAM upgrades short of swapping the logic board (yourself) at a later date.

Bloody stupid decision.
