New MBP??

I couldn't really wait any longer which is a shame if there's updates in January. I did read up on macrumors and saw potential, but yeah, I had to get one last month really!!! Absolutely loving it though :D

I very much hope so myself, I have £2k burning a hole in my pocket waiting for a quad core macbook pro...if it's not january and I have to live another six months with my core duo model I'll be slightly upset!

Whats wrong with your core2 duo? I'm pretty sure it could handle everything you should expect to throw at a laptop:P Don't be so greedy!

(Ok I want a macbook pro..! My powerbook is still going strong but the newer ones are so pretty...!)

If it does what you want forget it to be honest. I'm waiting because my old macbook pro is still alive and well and it's my main machine for personal use so I'd like the quad core. I also suspect multi core is going to be a big thing for apple in the next few years with grand central and the newer intel multi core chips (the 6 core xeons will probably turn up in the mac pro pretty soon).

To the OP - well nobody really knows. I'm in the market for a macbook pro and I'm waiting but that's because I have a functional machine and I specifically want the quad core. If you end up waiting till january and nothing happens don't blame me!

I have just come into some cash and was looking at the 15" with the extra GFX card for windows based gaming, apposed to the 13"

But with the possibility of new ones in Jan I think I will wait

I just picked up a 15" 2.8 with the faster drive. It's plenty quick enough for the occasional processing I'll do when I'm away taking photos. I'm going to upgrade my main Photoshop PC with an iMac next year so I'm not too bothered if a newer MBP arrives in Jan.

The faster 7200 drive is well worth getting though. My friend has the slower drive in a 17" with the same processor as me, both machines are brand new and mine will boot up so much faster I can almost shut it down and reboot in the same time his boots once!

Be interesting to see how the battery life is between your and your friends MBP

ps3ud0
Yeah that's true, not really sure. If just surfing the web and not doing anything taxing mine will go for a good few hours but no idea of specifics for the two. Not sure we could test either as the last time I spoke to him he had ordered a new 7200 drive for the 17"....lol

Aww, I just bought a new MBP :(

Will upgrade the HDD to a 7.2k in the not to distant future.
Disappointed that the CPU is actually soldered onto the MB, can't easily upgrade :(

Arent Apple working on a i7 MBP at the moment? Saw rumours somewhere but as normal it's rumours and speculation.

Of course they're working on one, they can't just ignore it, it's just a matter of when it turns up and what exactly is inside... I'd bet on a 720qm (though I'd like an 820qm in an ideal world) and new graphics, probably not from nvidia...

Same boat as bigredshark really - got a perfectly fine MBP 15" 2.4 C2d/4Gb Mem that works perfectly fine at the minute.

Just waiting for Apple to release something worth upgrading to before I spend £2k!
